A Bit of Carols!
Tesco Busking
Another annual event for the band is to play just inside the entrance of Tesco in Cowley / Yiewsley on 23rd December to welcome shoppers and jolly-up their last minute shopping.
Thanks to the public, who always receive us really well, and of course to Father Christmas for turning up and entertaining the young (and not so young!). We hope we had you dancing in the aisles with your trollies!
Carols Around The Crib
Another night and another annual carol sing-along. This time we were at St Matthew’s church in Yiewsley around the outdoor crib. As well as those who came for the whole event, being in the church garden on the side of street meant we also attracted many passers by who swelled the numbers and enjoyed the concert.
The audience enjoyed listening to the band playing set numbers as well as choosing their favourite carols to sing to. A great, festive and jolly sound by all!
Again, under the baton of our great Flugel player, Anna Murray, the Training Band also played their wonderfully practised Silent Night and received a well deserved massive round of applause.
Carols on The Green
Our annual Carols on the Green sing-along was, as always, well attended and enjoyed by all in the local community. The audience chose some great carols and tried to beat us in volume with their singing, even when the band purposefully messed around with the carol to see how well the audience were paying attention! Great singing rang out around the rafters from the huge crowd.
Our Training Band also played and their sound was wonderful. They played Silent Night and even got an encore so everyone could sing along.
As usual, the Mayor, Mayoress and Father Christmas also attended and donations were collected for the Mayor’s charities. Thanks too to Marion for keeping everyone topped up with yummy mince pies and allowing us to carol in her courtyard!
Busking In Tesco Slough
We managed to squeeze in 3 hours of carol playing in Tesco, Slough where the staff and shoppers got to boogie to festive treats whilst wheeling their trollies and scanning items at the till.
The reception was great and young and old, shoppers and staff stopped to listen, take photos and videos and very generously donate money. We even had one poor young boy burst into tears when we finished because he wanted us to keep playing! Probably the best compliment ever!
Iver Heath Infant School – carols in the courtyard
The band concluded a busy Christmas fayre at Iver Heath Infant School by playing carols for pupils and parents to sing along to in their playground courtyard.
The audience were stars and sang along joyously. Renditions of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer went down well with the children but the highlight had to be Jingle Bells as the children got to join in by shaking bells and tambourines. It was so much fun that we were asked to do it twice!
A big thank you to Iver Heath Infant School for their participation, warm reception to our concert and great hospitality! Merry Christmas!
